Absolutely Wait!: The single borderline TSH & nl TSH on a 2nd test with a T4 in the normal range (or if free T4 borderline) is not an indication for thyroid hormone tx, but re-evaluaion & possibly some additional tests - even with controversy over what is a nl TSH. Cytomel (liothyronine) also is not a treatment for depression & can likely do more harm than good if not appropriate & managed by someone experienced with its use!

See below: Your TSH is in the normal range. You should start taking your medication, as it takes such medications up to 3 weeks to show full effect. Do discuss your concerns with your doctor at the next visit. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
