A member asked:

Is it a reasonable goal to reduce my moderate activity heart rate by 13bpm in 3 months? current: 138bpm after walking about 4mph for 1 mile. goal: 125

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not relevant: It generally requires more strenuous exercise to reduce the resting heart rate. Reducing heart rate is not a relevant goal for exercise. Do keep up the exercise. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
