Get checked: Abdominal pain requires evaluation under the circumstance of having a coil in place. Sometimes a coil or IUD can migrate and cause damage to internal structures. Just the presence of a coil can cause pain in some women, especially in the first few months, but sharp pain is cause for concern. The coil may be the source of the pain, but many other things can cause such pain. Get checked.
