See a doctor.: You could be miscarrying, or you could have other reasons for bleeding in early pregnancy. An ultrasound, and some simple blood tests, can help determine if you are at risk of losing the pregnancy. If you are dizzy or the bleeding is heavy, go to the Emergency Room. Also, your OB/GYN should have an on-call phone number so you can reach a covering doctor to answer your questions.

Go to ER: The Emergency room has the capacity to evaluate what is causing the bleeding. The ER can treat you if you need fluids or a blood transfusion. Vaginal bleeding is common in first trimester. You need to find out the cause. Good luck!

Your OB's office: ...may be closed, but their practice should have someone on call 24-7. You should be able tocall their practice number and be directed to an answering service, or they may have given you an emergency number to call directly. If this isn't the case, I recommend you go to the nearest emergency department for evaluation. Best wishes. Dr. Anne
