A member asked:

Am 25 yrs old had hypothyroidism. now it's normal. tsh is 4.2 with t3 (liothyronine) and t4 normal but my skin has lost its elasticity and got signs of ageing. help?

May not be normal: A TSH of 4.2 may still be high in hypothyroidism. One should ask what level of TSH her doctor is aiming for. Some doctors feel that a TSH above 3 or so may be high, even if the lab reference range goes up to 4.5 or so. The skin elasticity has to be compared to one's peers and family members. A primary care doctor, a dermatologist, or a rheumatologist can help decide if there is a problem or not.
