A member asked:

Do shingles always reoccur in the same location or can they reoccur in a different location? (upper vs lower body)? what triggers reoccurrence?

Herpes zoster...: ... (shingles) usually doesn't recur. A second episode doesn't mean anything special, but 3rd or more can indicate an immune system disorder. Recurrences can be either in the same place or elsewhere. Not all shingles-like rashes are shingles. Recurrent herpes simplex, for example, can mimic shingles if facial, genital, buttock, etc. See a doctor ASAP to confirm the diagnosis and get treated.
