A member asked:

Hi i'm 17 years old and i faint before school tests. is it possible to be so afraid of taking a test that i faint? if so, what's it called?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fainting: The entity of Vasovagal Syncope can cause faintness or full-blown syncope secondary to sensitivity of the autonomic nervous system. This occurs with high anxiety, disgusting sights or smells, and even hyperventilation reactions. However, this can clearly be de-conditioned, using biofeedback or cognitive-behavioral therapy, and at this point, well worthwhile learning how to control this.
