Can taking a blood pressure medicine lower the risk of heart attacks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

BP meds' effects: Controlling your blood pressure with medication does lower your risk of heart attacks. It also reduces your risk of kidney disease and/or failure and strokes. You blood pressure (BP) should be < 140 systolic. The lower your bp, without symptoms of dizziness or weakness, the better your chances are of avoiding these complications. See your doctor for more advice.
