Assess function: GFR is used to estimate degree of kidney impairment. It measures the filtration rate. GFR decreases with age but in patients with kidney disease it can also monitor for progression of underlying disease. Depending on each patient and their risk factors for kidney disease guides further testing. Talk to your PMD at next visit and have them review all the test results.
