Depends on situation: Keeping clean with just soap & water once or more daily, keeping dry (bacteria cannot grow without water: all life is based on water & fat molecules to build membranes which organize the water into cells) at other times is most important. Topical antibiotic creams, e.g. Neosporin or generic triple-antiseptic, can help suppress bacteria & fungus in between washing with soap & water.
