PCOS typically: renders you without menstruation for prolonged periods of time. Oral contraceptives are a method to start menstruation, but what you are experiencing is breakthrough bleeding -- which can again be controlled with oral contraceptives. I certainly hope you have a healthcare provider who is tracking your disease and menstruation, since you will need to have a good relationship with that provider.
