It may be good idea: You have to assess your own setting to see whether this is a wise idea. You also have to see if you can afford this. I think it is a great idea especially if you feel you've been at risk or had power outages before or have a health problem that needs definite electric power

Yes-with caution: A generator has specific guidelines of how it must be run. There have even been fires/deaths from generators used improperly. Please refer to manual/maintenance BEFFORE buying a generator

Generator for Hurric: High winds of Hurricane can take down power poles and cause damage to power plants. Sometimes, Electric Company cannot restore power for many weeks. Therefore, please get a generator if I'm in an area prone to hurricanes or typhoons.

You could: But be careful not put the Generator inside the house or in your garage as the carbon monoxide emitted can cause poisoning and death if inhaled
