PRODUCTIVE COUGH: Yes it is normal. Upper respiratory infections produce inflammation of the breathing passages making it difficult for the lungs to clear mucus. The body's response is to cough in an attempt to get rid of the phlegm. Keep hydrated and monitor your symptoms. If they do not improve in the next few days, touch base with your doctor for further advice.
