A member asked:

I am curious about the effects of anesthesia on someone that has past drug use history?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tell your doctor: It is important to tell your anesthesiologist about your drug use history. Depending on how long ago, it may affect the dose of the anesthetic and dose of pain relief. If your use was more than three months ago, there is not likely to be any issue, however, tell your doctor. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.
