Yes: Symptoms may not appear for years after exposure to HSV2. Most people will develop some immunity (which may not be enough to kill off the virus altogether) with an elevated IgG to HSV2.

HSV Testing: You should get tested at a lab for HSV1/HSV2, HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Are you sexually active? You should have your sexual partners for the past 60 days tested as well. You can tell them that your doctor thinks you should be tested to be safe. There are treatments for HSV 1 & 2. The testing IgG level is not exact for when you were infected. Most important is testing & treatment.
