Visit to the doctor: Most of the time minor blunt traume can produce symptoms related to pressure. But such an accident can also cause deeper injury like rupture of ear drum or bleeding in the ear canal, which must be ruled out by direct examination by a ceretified medical person., esp if your son is having some symptoms. Hope he feels better soon!

Visit MD: Any decrease in hearing, he should absolutely visit the MD for an ear exam. Does he have any drainage from the ear? MD will put a scope in the ear and make sure his tympanic membrane is intact. Treat his pain with NSAIDs until then. Good luck.
