Skin abrasion: The signs of infection are redness, pain, increased warmth and possibly even swelling. It sounds like you may have a localized infection depending on how it looks- I would show it to a doctor -they can tell for sure. It burns when in the shower because of the chlorine in the water (similar to adding salt to a wound). Try to take good care of the area. Bacitracin might help, with a nice dressing.
