It would: To meet indications for bariatric surgery you must have a BMI > 30 and at least 1 medical condition attributable to obesity such as hypertension, metabolic syndrome, or diabetes. Fatty liver, especially if inflammation is present, would likely meet accepted indications for the procedure as long as you don't have other issues making you high risk for the operation.
