Abnormal reflexes: An EMG measures muscles; reflexes measure nerve activity. Hypothyroidisnm can cause slowed reflexes. Nerve damage at age 20, due to a disease of nerves, such as a neuropathy,is unlikely, but can be checked for by your neurologist. That test is a nerve conduction study (NCS). If NSC is abnormal then you will need more studies to (hopefully) determine the cause.
