I just had an emg test done and the doctor that performed it first checked my reflex in my ankle and said it was reduced but my emg was normal. how?

Abnormal reflexes: An EMG measures muscles; reflexes measure nerve activity. Hypothyroidisnm can cause slowed reflexes. Nerve damage at age 20, due to a disease of nerves, such as a neuropathy,is unlikely, but can be checked for by your neurologist. That test is a nerve conduction study (NCS). If NSC is abnormal then you will need more studies to (hopefully) determine the cause.
