It depends on the: age. In adults, usually patients begin to exhibit negative symptoms first, such as withdrawal and loss of interest in activities, a lack of insight, although this is not the case for everyone. If someone is exhibiting strange behavior, or has had a change in conduct, an evaluation by a psychiatrist is warranted, regardless of the circumstances; illness ruled in or out and treatment initiated.
