What would outsiders see at the early onset of schizophrenia symptoms?

Decline in function: They may see social withdrawal or isolation, lack of self-care (poor hygiene), constricted range of emotional expression, decreased motivation, and an overall decline in their normal level of function.

Varies: Perhaps difficulty relating socially, peculiar thinking, daydreaming--varies some kids get into drugs &/or alcohol seemingly to convince themselves and others that their odd thoughts & behaviors are by choice.
