No it is not: for sure that your mom will develop breast cancer because her mom had it. There are genetic tests which can help determine the probability of that happening. We are learning that genes are only one part of a bigger picture. Scientific research called "epigenetics" sheds light on this. What turns genes on and off has something to do w/lifestyle such as the way we eat, think, exercise, etc.
