I suspect the main: cause of the blood is the dryness is your nose contributing to microscopic blood vessel injury, drainage down the back of your throat, and then observed in your respiratory secretions. Humidification and some petroleum jelly in the nose should help. But please don't take this as reassurance about your smoking...if you continue, there may come a time when the blood streaks are from lung cancer:(
