Toe Infection: Treat wound with antibiotic ointment and keep covered with at minimum, a band-aid. On open wound has a higher chance of getting infected. If you feel there is an infection, oral antibiotics might be necessary and a specialist might have to do a minor procedure if the toenail has become ingrown. Change the dressing once a day, usually after bathing.

Why are you waiting.: Now is not the time to play the wait and see game. If you feel that the wound is not healing, then it probably isn't. Get to a physician to have it properly assessed. Infections from improperly cleaned instruments can be hazardous to your health.

Infected toe : An infected toe should be treated by a Podiatrist. Make sure the toe is covered with a sterile cover with a topical antibiotic until you can get your appointment. The Podiatrist will put you in antibiotics, treat the infection and follow up with you. Don't injure yourself and stop being a bathroom surgeon.
