Maybe he shouldn't: It depends on how bad your husband's kidney disease and ADHD are. Like many decisions, medicines require analyzing the risk of the treatment with potential benefits. For Adderall, (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) there are several risks (higher BP, weight loss, sleeplessness) that may not be an issue for him. If his kidney disease is stage 4 or greater, dosing adjustments are strongly recommended.

Talk with prescriber: who knows your husband's conditions and can monitor response and problems. Kidney problems require caution but are not a contraindication (i.e. reason not to take). The doctor can determine safety and effectiveness. Best regards for good health.
