Usually, not always: Most commonly, urinary tract infections cause frequent, urgent, burning urination. If the infection spreads to a kidney, there may be flank pain, fever, chills and nausea. However, some urinary tract infections may not cause immediate discomfort. However, there may be symptoms other than discomfort, such as frequent urination, blood-tinged urine, or unexplained fever.

No:: It is possible to have a mild, and even serious, urinary tract infection without symptoms. This is more likely in the very young, the very old, and people with chronic illnesses.
