Are you sure?: First, and probably most importantly, the vast majority of ITB injuries do well with nonoperative care. In the very small percent that have surgery, the technique used and therefore the recovery involved are based on the pathology. In some cases a torn tendon is repaired, in others a tight tendon is released or a spur removed arthroscopically. I would certainly discuss directly with your surgeon
