Sure, but unlikely: Hands do a lot of work in dirty-water places all over the world, every day. Hands are pretty durable, and generally do not get infected just by contact with dirty things... as long as they get to dry off and retain a healthy layer of skin. Broken skin and any wounds could make hands susceptible to infection.
