Low calorie foods: Oral steroids do increase appetite. Weight gain can be limited by eating low calorie foods such as lots of vegetables and salads but watch the high calorie dressings. Oral steroids also cause salt retention which holds fluid in your body so limiting salt intake will decrease fluid retention/puffiness. Oral steroids should be taken for the shortest time possible.
