Very likely: It seems like you have tonsillitis which are most commonly caused by viruses and bacteria. Azithromycin (z-pack) is a pretty good antibiotic for bacteria such as strep. Viruses usually run their course within a few days however can sometimes last longer when mononucleosis (mono) is involved. If it does not improve, then I would suggest getting tested for mono.
