A member asked:

So which cancer-causing agents (carcinogens) usually act on cells that are dividing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Epithelium: Most cancers arise from epithelium ("carcinomas"), surface-covering cells more prone to cancer because they are more likely to contact cancer-causing chemicals and are also divide more. The cells are not more vulnerable because they are dividing; the replication gives a chance for the mutations to spread in the cell population.
