See doctor: It does not sound normal. Shortness of breath can be caused by many conditions, some are serious. Being overweight, heart failure, lung conditions like COPD-are just some examples.

Yes!: Your shortness of breath associated w/activity may be equivalent to "chest pain" although you may not be reporting "pain". Best to chat w/your Family Doc and get your heart checked out. Your risk for heart disease increases if you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and/or smoke. Don't wait until things get worse.
