No way: This can be very harmful for an infant. Simethicone is available without a prescription for bowel gas in infants. But often family members are mistaken when they think an infant's discomfort comes from gas. Crying babies swallow air, which can cause baby to pass gas. But the gas is just a side effect of crying, not the main issue. An exam by a pediatrician is needed for a persistently fussy baby.
