No pain, can go home: It would be important to know why she is getting the biopsy. The procedure sounds like upper endoscopy with biopsy. This is done under complete sedation, unless the patient chose not to. It is painless, and the patient can go home after probably 1 hour or so when patient wakes up completely, and if there is no complication. There may be a minor bleeding at the biopsy, but it is usually negligible.
