Complicated decision: Dr. Chiu is exactly right. You also should understand that with proper medical care, your bf can live a nearly normal, healthy life span, you can be protected from ever being infected, and you can have healthy kids. But also consider how he became infected (IV drugs? sex with other men?) and how that might affect your life together. Don't disregard your parents' advice, but the decision is yours.
