A member asked:

I have a cardiac shunt and my cardiologist doesn't seem to really be concerned! why wouldn't that be fixed? also can i request it to be fixed?

Shunt: Small shunts not imposing a physiologic burden and without symptoms are typically not in need of structural repair or correction as the risk of such repair procedures exceeds the native risk imparted by the presence of the shunt. If in doubt obtain a second cardiologists opinion with review of imaging and hemodynamic data; this could be in person or via Health Tap Concierge
