Why is a head ct no longer indicated after 24 hours of a head trauma? is it b/c a neurologic problem would be obvious from h&p after that time frame?

What could it show?: If you aren't having any symptoms at that point, chances are that the CT will show nothing. Most neurological symptoms are quick to develop (within 24 hrs) if they occur & would be permanent if they persisted for 1 day. Besides, what diference would a CT scan make? If a neurological exam isn't abnormal, then there's nothing to do with any CT scan result: it's exposure to radiation & wasting money.
