Perianal abscess: It is not uncommon that by plucking a hair in the perianal area that an abscess can develop. The area is constantly contaminated and at risk for infection. Should that happen, warm sitz baths 2-3x/day help bring vascular supply to the area needed for healing. If the site doesn't resolve, then antibiotics may be needed. Rare for surgical intervention.
