A member asked:

Do i need to wake my 3 week old up in the middle of the night to eat if he doesn't wake himself up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe, but...: It might be ok as long as your baby has been seen by their pediatrician in the last week & received a good bill of health--gaining weight, alert & active. But without seeing the baby, & until they're seen by their doc, I'd recommend waking them every 4 hours to feed. While it's likely ok, not waking to feed can be a sign of lethargy, illness, or neurologic impairment, and can lead to dehydration.
