A member asked:

Can methotrexate fail to stop an ectopic pregnancy from growing, eventually resulting in the rupture of the fallopian tube from the growing pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it can: Yes this scenario can occur if the ectopic pregnancy is greater than 8 to 10 weeks gestational age as methotrexate is less effective in larger ectopic pregnancies and a surgical approach is the option of choice.
