Boil.: Draining that boil might be the best step to promote healing. Sometimes these are infected with MRSA, which is an aggressive bacterium resistant to certain antibiotics. With draining the boil, the doctor can send the contents for culture to see what bacterium is involved, thereby tailoring the antibiotic to the bacterium.
