Panic: Panic attacks can absolutely be controlled. You should visit your physician and discuss cognitive behavioral therapy and medication. A physician needs to take your full history, medication, allergies, and speak with you in person to determine the appropriate treatment. SSRI medications are excellent anxiolytics that can treat anxiety and panic, beta blockers and other meds are also used. Good luck

Psychotherapy helps: Anxiety is a painful symptom, but it has many different sources and causes for different people. It is analogous to a fever, a symptom of many different illnesses. In my work with people with anxiety and panic attacks, progress begins when patients tell me their family and relationship history, and the history of their anxiety symptoms, and we begin to understand its origins and meanings.

Exposure therapy: Exposure based therapy is especially effective for panic and anxiety attacks, gradually, in a systematic way w/ the therapist's guidance, you repeatedly face the feared situations ; symptoms of panic, along w/ relaxation techniques. Facing it once and then avoiding it makes it worse. But w/ exposure therapy, over time, the physical sensations that occur will no longer trigger a panic attack.
