Hemoptysis: Coughed up mucus or blood (hemoptysis) usually is from bronchial tubes or lungs, not tonsils. Most common cause is bronchitis, but could be a more serious infection, especially pneumonia; or TB if at risk. See a doctor if it continues, especially with blood. If much blood, fever, chest pain, or shortness of breath, get seen immediately regardless of the holiday, e.g. urgent care or emergency room.
