Problem is GERDs: Having cramps from air instilled in colon for colonoscopy is not uncommon. Upper GI scoping will not cause sore throat. More likely the Barretts is from reflux esophagitis and the acid reflux is a result of the reflux problem. Use of omeprazole may help symptoms
