A member asked:

I was reading info on the nhs website about hiv and it said most people wont get aids if they start treatment does that mean people can still get aids?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, but: There are individual variations in response to treatment. However, if a person is infected with HIV through sex, no substance abuse, no other infections like hepatitis, starts treatment early and is compliant with treatment, the person can have a near normal life span.
