If : If your partner currently has a sexually transmitted disease or if they are having sex with other people, then it is possible that they can infect you, too if you do not use condoms. There are also a few sexually transmitted diseases such as human papilloma virus (hpv) or herpes simplex virus (hsv) that someone can have for a long time without symptoms and not even know they carry it. The safest thing to do is to use condoms or if both partners are monogamous, then to go for std testing before not stopping condom use.

Depends : Unless your partner is a virgin, you can't be a 100% sure. A few people with HIV infection appear totally healthy. You should also be concerned with human papilloma virus infection as well. If you are concerned, get some tests done.
