Maybe still herpes: Your doctor may be right. Herpes could do this, especially if recently exposed and this is your first infection with HSV1. But recurrent herpes usually wouldn't last so long. If the doc suspected herpes, you should have been treated with an anti-HSV drug like valacyclovir; failure to improve would be against herpes. Maybe other virus? Staph or strep infection? Suggest you return to same doctor.
