Sadly, yes.: Most importantly is he able to drink well and eat a little? Is he playing and resuming usual activities? On lying in bed not moving much? Fever resolving is a good sign. Symptoms may continue a bit longer. Offer acetaminophen or paracetamol for throat pain. Let your pediatrician know if not improving.

Go back to doctor: If he has been on antibiotics for 3 days and still has a fever and significant symptoms then he may have pneumonia and need a different type of antibiotic. Please go to the doctor today!

Nebulized medication: Although the problem appears to be from a viral infection, some may require a nebulized bronchodilator and/or steroid to get over the chest congestion. Talk to your doctor about it.
