Nonspecific stuff: No one should get a "blood checkup". If enough tests are done then odds are at least one will turn out abnormal, even if a person is completely healthy. This often leads to more unneeded testing and even risky procedures, not to mention worry and cost. Amylase is not specific to the pancreas. It is made by the bowel and salivary glands too. A moderately elevated value is not necessarily important.
