It depends: If the lesion appears large and involved within deeper layers, it will likely need to be removed surgically. If it is more confined and polyp-like, it will probably be removed during colonoscopy. as we can't determine if it is cancerous until we remove it and have a pathologist look at it.

Depends: Some cancers are confined to polyps detected at colonoscopy and the removal can be curative. Frequently the cancer is not detected until the polyp is analyzed in the laboratory. If cancer is noted beyond the polyp, you will be referred to an oncologist and a colorectal surgeon for definitive treatment.
